We know you can’t wait to meet the next Goop, so give a warm welcome to Afraido. He’s a kind Goop with a huge heart, and he loves helping everyone. The other Goops love this about him, but they tend to get frustrated when Afraido gets scared or anxious, which happens a lot.     

One very cold January afternoon, Afraido wakes up and immediately feels afraid because he thinks he’s going to freeze. He goes out to try to find his friend Sarcasta because she always helps him forget his fear. When he gets outside, he sees Sarcasta and immediately feels anxious, which causes icy air to carry him all the way to Ecuador. There, he soon meets a playful alpaca named Loki. Loki warns Afraido that the Devil’s Cauldron will swallow him up if he isn’t careful. 

Loki and Afraido begin to play, but soon Afraido steps in the Pastaza River and carries Afraido to the Devil’s Cauldron. There, he must face his fears or risk being stuck in the waterfall forever. Will he be able to stare down his fears and make them disappear?

Afraido’s journey in Ecuador will help kids learn how to overcome their fears and calm their anxiety. Afraid will have to do just that if she wants to escape the Devil’s Cauldron and get back to Goop World. Will he figure out how to calm himself down and face his fears?
