The story

Burpalot is the first to cheer for his friends, and he burps all the time, loudly. For Goop World's Big Shine Contest, he gulps a whole soda for the loudest burp ever, and it launches him straight into the sky.

He lands on NASA's Vomit Comet, the plane in Houston, Texas that makes people float weightless to train for space. Hiding at the back, he spots a cat in a harness and something small and gray watching him.

The real place: The Vomit Comet, Houston

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1The Vomit Comet flies up and down in giant arcs, and at the top of each one, everyone inside floats for about 25 seconds.
  2. 2NASA trains its astronauts in Houston, Texas, at the Johnson Space Center.
  3. 3The floating scenes in the movie Apollo 13 were filmed on board a real Vomit Comet.
