The story
Catastrophina causes catastrophes everywhere she goes, from spider jars in class to clothes flung across her room. On a rainy morning she bursts out of her duvet, her cracked tablet goes flying, and a monkey pops out and pulls her inside.
She lands by a waterfall in the jungle of Bijagua, Costa Rica, where a howler monkey named Ivy Valentina Cruz needs a master of chaos to move the sloths out of her family's trees before mean Uncle Thiago does something terrible.
The real place: Bijagua, Costa Rica
Three things to tell your kid after the story.
- 1Near Bijagua flows the Rio Celeste, a river that looks bright sky blue because of tiny minerals in the water.
- 2Howler monkeys are among the loudest land animals, and their howls can be heard miles away through the jungle.
- 3Sloths move so slowly that tiny green algae can grow in their fur, which helps them hide in the trees.
