Destroya and The Hungry Yellowstone Grizzly

The story

Destroya is generous and helpful, but she snips up books and papers with her scissors. In a hidden library deep in the woods, she starts cutting a book, and it slams shut with her inside.

She pops out in Yellowstone National Park beside a steaming pool. A bison named Caramelle warns her the grizzlies are waking up hungry, but Destroya really wants to see one.

The real place: Yellowstone

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

1. 1Yellowstone was the first national park in the world, created in 1872.
2. 2Yellowstone has more geysers than anywhere else on Earth, including Old Faithful, which shoots water high into the air.
3. 3Grizzly bears sleep through the winter in dens and wake up in spring very hungry.
