The story
Googlina wears Google glasses and googles everything. When her friend Snackadoo disappears into a picture of a pineapple, she asks Google where he is, and Google sends her some very strange instructions.
A tiny blue wave scoops her out of a library book and onto a sandy beach on Kauai, near the Na Pali Coast, where a beach house and a very loud dog are waiting.
The real place: Na Pali Coast
Three things to tell your kid after the story.
- 1"Na Pali" means "the cliffs" in Hawaiian, and the coast has giant green cliffs dropping straight into the sea.
- 2The cliffs are so steep that no road runs along this coast. People see it by boat, by helicopter or on a long hiking trail.
- 3The Hawaiian islands were built by volcanoes that rose up from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
