The story

Inkfinga loves taking things apart, but he never washes the ink off his fingers. When he types his grandfather's birthday on an old typewriter, he is pulled into a spinning tunnel of time.

He lands among the ruins of ancient Greece with a talking pocket watch named Karius. His sloppy fixes and inky smudges leave a trail, and Medusa, with her head of snakes, starts searching for him.

The real place: Ancient Greece

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1In old Greek myths, Medusa had snakes for hair, and anyone who looked straight at her was said to turn to stone.
  2. 2Pericles was a real leader of ancient Athens, and he helped build the famous Parthenon temple.
  3. 3Ancient Greeks made floor pictures called mosaics by fitting together thousands of tiny pieces of stone and tile.
