The story

Rockerina is crazy about rocks and has been hunting for marble for years. When Smashum's hammer cracks a shiny marble wall at the Goop World quarry, the crack pulls her inside and seals shut.

She chips her way out among ancient pillars at the Temple of Zeus in Olympia, Greece, and a hoopoe bird points her across the sea to the marble quarries on the island of Paros.

The real place: Olympia

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1The very first Olympic Games were held in Olympia, Greece, almost 2,800 years ago.
  2. 2The Temple of Zeus once held a giant statue of Zeus made of gold and ivory, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
  3. 3Marble from the island of Paros is so fine that light glows a little way into it, so ancient sculptors loved it.
