The story

Yuckadoo is always up for an adventure, but he says "yuck" to any food he hasn't tried and keeps a list of yucky foods on sticky notes. When he sniffs Mischiefa's beignet and says "yuck," it sucks him inside.

He bobs up in the Dead Sea, floating among sharp little salt islands. A Dead Sea sparrow named Moineau tells him a legend about three salty mummies, and the sun is already sinking.

The real place: The Dead Sea

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1The shore of the Dead Sea is the lowest place on land on Earth, about 430 meters below sea level.
  2. 2Its water is almost ten times saltier than the ocean, so people float on top without even trying.
  3. 3No fish or plants can live in it, only tiny microbes, which is how it got the name "Dead Sea."
