The story
Askalotte is an adorable Goop who rings her little bell before asking question after question, far too many of them. In the park she meets a long-haired dog named Li, who invites her to China.
A fierce wind leaves Askalotte clinging to a giant stone Buddha. To find Li again she must learn one word that brings peace, and cross a rice field with a dragon sleeping underneath, with only a red panda named Hong to help.
The real place: China
Three things to tell your kid after the story.
- 1The Leshan Giant Buddha in China was carved into a cliff more than 1,200 years ago and is one of the tallest stone Buddhas in the world.
- 2In the mountains of China, farmers grow rice on terraces that climb the hills like giant steps.
- 3Red pandas live in the mountain forests of China, spend most of their time in trees, and eat mostly bamboo.
