The story

Matho is obsessed with math and sees an equation in everything, which can make his head spin. Showing Hugalina and Kissalina how to solve a contest problem, he slides his abacus beads so fast that a glowing number nine whisks him away.

He lands on a glowing floor in the NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam, where numbers scatter through the halls and equation eels appear. The more problems he solves, the more come swarming in.

The real place: NEMO Science Museum, Amsterdam

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1NEMO is the biggest science museum in the Netherlands, and its green copper building is shaped like the front of a ship.
  2. 2The museum's sloping roof is a big public square where people can sit and look out over Amsterdam.
  3. 3NEMO was built right on top of a road tunnel that runs under the water in Amsterdam.
