The story
Moania loves history and dreams of time travel, but she moans about everything. On a stormy hilltop, while she is complaining that the lightning is striking somewhere else, a bolt hits her great-great-great-great-grandfather's ruby amulet and she vanishes in a flash of red.
She lands under a starry sky and meets her ancestor Archeo, who tells her she has gone back in time to the Pyramid of the Moon in Teotihuacan, Mexico, a place of hidden rooms and restless spirits.
The real place: Teotihuacan
Three things to tell your kid after the story.
- 1Teotihuacan was once one of the biggest cities in the world. Its long main road is called the Avenue of the Dead.
- 2The Pyramid of the Moon was built in seven stages, each new layer built over the last one, just like Archeo says.
- 3The Aztecs found the city long after it was empty and gave it its name, which means "the place where the gods were born."
