The story
Mudifoot has lovely manners until he sees mud. After rolling in it like a pig, he pokes his flagpole into a giant mud puddle to see how deep it goes, and it swallows him whole.
He pops out in Botswana and plays all day with baby elephants. Then they warn him about Kasi, a woman with a bucket of water so clean it can make a muddy Goop disappear.
The real place: Botswana
Three things to tell your kid after the story.
- 1Botswana has more elephants than any other country in the world.
- 2Elephants cover themselves in mud to keep cool and to protect their skin from the sun and bugs.
- 3The Okavango River never reaches the sea. It spreads out into a giant wetland in the desert called the Okavango Delta.
