The story

Wasntme is a fearless explorer who answers every "who" question with "Wasntme," without even listening. Deep in the tunnels under a giant oak, a hissing voice asks "Who's there?" and he blurts out his name.

A yellow-eyed snake swallows him and spits him out in the singing sand dunes of Qatar. With Clarabelle the camel, he must outrun a stinky sandstorm stirred up from an old, old story.

The real place: Singing Sand Dunes

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1Qatar's singing sand dunes are in the desert southwest of Doha, the country's capital.
  2. 2When the wind blows or people slide down the dunes, the moving sand makes a low humming, booming sound.
  3. 3Camels are built for sandstorms: they have long double rows of eyelashes, an extra see-through eyelid, and nostrils they can close.
