The story

Twins Wonty and Whynotte do everything together, including shouting "I won't!" and "Why not?" back and forth. Hiding from their mother in the basement freezer, they get locked in and freeze solid.

They wake up on a 3,000-year-old iceberg in the Arctic, where seals play soccer with them. Then their shouting match sends them tumbling to the bottom of the iceberg, into a glowing world with orcas and polar bears.

The real place: The Arctic

Three things to tell your kid after the story.

  1. 1There are no penguins at the North Pole. Penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere, just like Pedro the seal says.
  2. 2A polar bear's fur looks white, but its skin underneath is black.
  3. 3Most of an iceberg is hidden underwater, which is why people talk about "the tip of the iceberg."
